4/9/15: Given the often-interrupted schedule this year, we have not addressed all of the topics that we usually cover in the NNHS AP Biology Course. Two things you can do to both review what we have done this year, and familiarize yourself with material we were unable to cover, are to watch Bozeman Science videos and work through the EdX Ap Biology Units. The latter is time-consuming, but paced like an actual AP Biology course, and quite comprehensive. Start now! You need time to watch it all, and even more time to assimilate it all!

3/12/15: If you are still avoiding reading the textbook, or find it challenging and need more support than Bozeman Science tutorials are providing, check out the Biology Corner to help you organize and review material.

3/1/15 Make sure you  send me an e-mail (ann_dannenberg@newton.k12.ma.us) with the name and block of your virus comic partner (if you have one) and your top three choices for viruses to research for your project. I will assign viruses on a first-come, first-served basis.

3/1/15 A few links to the science behind the color of the dress. One from Wired and one from Quartz posted by Ms. Lund. Our retinas brains are, indeed, very interesting. End of discussion.

1/5/15

Whether or not we have another snow day, in preparation for the Genetics and Heredity test, watch the BBC Documentary The Ghost in Your Genes about epigenetics.

1/14/15

Awesome FIELD TRIP opportunity to Harvard University to participate in a laboratory investigation (HANDS ON) of zebra fish embryology. Tuesday, March 24: leave school at 8:00, return by 1:15. $15 for the bus; the lab is paid for. First come, first served! Return the attached permission slip with $15 (checks made out to Newton Public Schools) to Ms DR ASAP!

12/10/14

Mr. Auerbach will be returning to NNHS next Thursday (12/18) for a lecture/concert during E block in the Orchestra room. He'll be playing piano and discussing Rachmaninoff and the Russian art of the end of the 19th century. It will be awesome!

12/10/14:

Great Summer Research opportunity. Check it out now if you're interested. These things are highly competitive and fill up fast once the application deadline is announced.
